ASDAN SUCCESS 2012!

Congratulations to all students in Room 5 and Room 6 and their teachers Anna Sweeney and Ross Higgins on achieving success at the external moderation of the New Horizons Programme which they were working hard on all year!

Mrs Sweeney brought samples of work portfolios completed by students to Galway on 22nd May and they were assessed by external moderators. All the students passed with flying colours and we hope that their certificates will arrive shortly so that a formal presentation can be made before school closes for the summer.

Watch this space for photos of the presentation when it happens!

NEW FOR 2011 - 2012!

ST. ANTHONY’S & ASDAN
For 2011 – 2012 St. Anthony’s has registered as an ASDAN Centre offering the Preparatory Programmes.

Teachers have received ASDAN accredited training supported by the Board of Management last August 2011.

Following planning meetings teachers have agreed to begin the ASDAN programmes by
starting with the New Horizons Programme for Classes 4, 5 and 6 and then moving on to
Transition Challenge Programme when teachers and students have become used to the programme methodology and portfolio preparation work.

The ASDAN programmes are complementary and work alongside the curriculum already
on offer in St. Anthony’s but ASDAN can provide learners with award certification to celebrate achievements which may be momentous for our children and provide them with success and a feeling of accomplishment.

More and more schools in Ireland are registering as ASDAN centres as the programmes are very user friendly for both learners and teachers and the awards recognise achievement reached by every child.

St. Anthony’s is committed to enhancing
and improving the level of educational services for every child who attends the school and we welcome the ASDAN awards programmes as a positive and beneficial move towards certification and accreditation of our students learning achievements.
