Active Schools Flag

St. Anthony's shares the same aim as Active Schools which is to enable schools to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community.

St. Anthony's has used the Active Schools challenge to 'Run around Europe' and adapted it to 'Run around Mayo' encouraging pupils to use our brand new walking track and walk the equivalent distance of walking from St. Anthony's to their village or town in Mayo.

St. Anthony's has forged many close links to external sports clubs and facilities in the local community which has been hugely beneficial towards reaching our aim.

Walking track

The pupils have been set a 'Run/walk from St. Anthony's School to different parts of Mayo.  Pupils can see from our challenge information board the amount of kilometres and laps they have to complete to walk the equivalent of that distance.

Also while they are walking there are exercise challenge cards on the path for pupils to not only improve their cardio fitness but also improve their strength.

We would like to thank Abbvie for providing us with this walking track.
