The pupils attended the ISSSC swimming gala in Sligo competing against other schools from Sligo and Donegal. Some future Olympians were on show.

As part of our commitment to being an Active School, Castlebar Tennis Club have kindly funded 6 weeks of tennis lessons for the senior classes. Thanks to Jan for a great first session today.

As part of National Bike Week the pupils have been practicing their bike riding skills and learning about bike safety.

A huge thank you to Castlebar Golf Club and the Lady Captain Helen Heneghan who held an amazing Golf classic last Wednesday 6th of May in Castlebar Golf Club. Ladies came from all over to play in the classic and gave generously with the support of male golfers too and raised €2,500 euros for St Anthony's special school new school bus. St.Anthony’s School along with St.Josephs and Letterkenny took part in the annual soccer tournament in Sligo. Some great skills were on show and the pupils had a lovely day.

As part of the JCL Subject Being Part of the Community/Geography, the pupils from Senior B enjoyed learning about ‘their place in space.

Friday 20th of March completed our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations. We had Tom Delaney (Ould Crafty) from Claremorris an artist keeping the traditional craft of basket making alive. Tom spent the day with us in St.Anthonys Special School explaining his craft and the willow and products he uses. He helped the students to make beautiful bird feeders that they got to take home. Senior E had a wonderful start to the year, enjoying some memorable field trips that brought their learning to life. As part of our work on villages in Ireland, we visited Knock where we enjoyed a fascinating tour of the museum and the Basilica, expertly led by Mary from the shrine office.
