School books and furniture for GHANA!

This week St.Anthonys Special School in Castlebar together with Sharon Cameron and Mayo Co.Co supported the Charity - Crosscause who support young children and young people and schools in Ghana who have little to no resources.

Their school buildings are quite often outside in the open air and any indoor buildings are without furniture, chairs or desks.

The director of this charity sent us photos and videos of what life is like in Ghana schools and we witnessed children sharing a stone to sit on for their school day while writing or reading on the ground. So our school management, staff, students and caretaker sourced stored tables, chairs, wheelchairs and specialised chairs no longer in use and had them delivered to Derrenumera civic site this Tuesday where they were all put into a large container with other school furniture and books heading for the boat for a 4 week sea journey to Ghana.

The children in the schools in Ghana sent lovely heart warming messages of thanks to us and all schools in the country that have reached out to help them.
